The call has gone out for volunteers to help stage one of Canberra's biggest annual events, the 2012 National Multicultural Festival.
ACT Minister for Multicultural Affairs Joy Burch said each year the Festival, which runs from February 10-12 next year, relied on the dedication of hundreds of volunteers to ensure it was a success.
"The National Multicultural Festival is a major event for Canberra, promoting our city to the country, and one of the reasons it has continued to grow has been the involvement of volunteers," Ms Burch said.
"Being involved in the Festival gives volunteers a direct role in its staging with event day positions including stage managers, stage manager's assistants, announcers, event set-up, information officers, runners and administration staff."
Applicants are able to nominate for different roles and state their availability for as many hours as they like.
Applications close on 30 December 2011 and an information and training session for volunteers will be held on 31 January 2012.
"Volunteering at the Festival provides a great chance to see behind the scenes at one of Australia's leading multicultural events and ensure that the thousands of people who attend have a great time."
