I was delighted to attend Canberra College's Awards Presentation today. As well as a graduation for this year's Year 12 students, the Awards recognise students' academic and extracurricular achievements such as community service and sport throughout the school year.
I was equally delighted to present the ‘Minister's All Rounder Award' to Year 12 student
Matilda Dickman.
Matilda has delivered a sound academic performance, achieved well in the sporting field, shown leadership among her peers, made a positive contribution to the community and, most importantly, earned the respect of her teachers and peers.
However, the title of ‘all rounder' could apply to many of the graduates who have completed thirteen years of education and have used their opportunity to learn and grow on their talents.
I congratulate the teachers at the Canberra College on preparing a new cohort of young men and women for life beyond school and the families who have provided support and encouragement.
Above all, I congratulate the graduating students on achieving this important milestone.
