Canberra gets behind students at ACT Indigenous Expo
ACT Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs Chris Bourke today met the staff, students and organisers at the ACT and Region Indigenous Expo."I was delighted to officially open the Expo and see the overwhelming number of private and public organisations taking part. I witnessed literallyhundreds of proud parents and students engaging with employers and training providers."
"From a student’s perspective the variety must have been overwhelming, with employers there ranging from the defence force and government directorates through to local businesses, CIT and other training institutions.
"Congratulations to those organisers, including Habitat Personnel, the Indigenous Business Chamber, and the ACT Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who made this event possible.
"It is projects like this where the government, business and the community come together that will ensure the best future for our Canberra students.
"I am proud to be part of a Labor Government that has made sure the ACT is a jurisdiction with one of the highest levels of Indigenous workforce participation in Australia" Minister Bourke said.
