Tickets are still on sale for Step into the Limelight, the annual showcase of the best in performing arts at ACT public schools, which will be held over two nights on Wednesday and Thursday this week at the Royal Theatre.
With more than 1600 of Canberra’s talented students from over 70 schools participating, this year’s showcase is more than double the size since the first production in 2007.
Step into the Limelight is a testament to the outstanding talent of the students we have in Canberra and the breadth of public school arts programs. I would like to congratulate teachers, ACT Education and Training Directorate staff and students for all of their hard work in what will no doubt be a fantastic show.
The theme for the 2011 production, Seasons, will be explored through dance, drama, music and new media. Among the performances will be the world premiere of a short play by young playwright Jessica Bellamy, a graduating student from the National Institute of Dramatic Art.
This is the fifth year of Step into the Limelight, and it has grown so much that it has moved to a larger venue, the Royal Theatre at the Convention Centre.
Seats are selling fast, so if you would like to see the talent of ACT public schools, be sure to book your tickets now from www.ticketek.com.Media Contact:
