Capital Chemists generously recognising ACT students

Released 23/03/2012

Capital Chemists generously recognising ACT students

I was thrilled to present the Capital Chemist scholarships today to a range of the ACT’s best and brightest college students.

The successful students have demonstrated aptitude and commitment during their year 10 studies and will receive a cheque for $500 from the Capital Chemist Group to support further study.

The scholarships are now in their ninth year and Capital Chemist Group have awarded over $200 000 to our most promising students in that time. Each ACT public high school is allocated two $500 scholarships, one for academic endeavour and one for citizenship. The recipients are nominated by each school.

The scholarship program is a wonderful opportunity to recognise young people, some of whom have been recognised for their academic achievement; others for their volunteering; others for supporting their school community in a variety other ways.

I congratulate the students for their achievements and I wish them well as they continue through further education and training.

I thank both Gary Cairns and Roger Tall, Senior Partners from the Capital Chemist Group, for their vision in supporting this partnership between the corporate and public sectors.

Capital Chemist’s generosity not only includes one of the largest donations to public education through their Capital Chemist scholarship program, but also contributing to programs such as the Chief Minister’s Reading Challenge, Cranleigh Art Show, LitLinks and many more.
