Chief Minister Katy Gallagher has encouraged Canberrans to make the most of this weekend's Canberra Festival celebrations by attending one of the Festival's highlights, Symphony in the Park, to be held in Commonwealth Park this Sunday 11 March.
"There's no better way to spend the eve of Canberra's 99th birthday than relaxing with friends and family under the stars to the inspiring sounds of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra," the Chief Minister said.
"Now in its third year, Symphony in the Park is one of the Canberra Festival's most popular events and this year's event is bigger than ever, with musical theatre favourites Rachael Beck and Ian Stenlake joining the Canberra Symphony Orchestra to perform ‘Hollywood Hits'.
"Acclaimed conductor Timothy Sexton will lead the Orchestra in performing songs from popular movies such as Singing' in the Rain, the Wizard of Oz, Moulin Rouge, Grease, Cabaret, Fame and Breakfast at Tiffany's.
"This is a great event for the whole family, so bring a picnic and a rug and chair and join us for one of the great Autumn events the Canberra Festival has on offer this weekend," the Chief Minister said.
Symphony in the Park is a free event, and starts at 7pm Sunday night and will conclude at 9.30pm.
