CORRECTIVE SERVICES STAFF RECOGNISED
Corrections Minister Dr Chris Bourke MLA welcomed new custodial recruits to ACT Corrective Services and presented awards to high performing Corrections staff in a formal ceremony at the Albert Hall today.The Catering Manager of the Alexander Maconochie Centre, Mr Michael Wilding, was presented with the Alexander Maconochie Medal“Michael has received this award for individual outstanding achievement, commitment to duty, and overall contribution to the organisation,” said Dr Bourke.Mr Wilding earned the award though working additional hours, including on weekends, being consistently pro-active, promoting a culture of co-operation and by modelling a positive work ethic through his attitude and behaviour.The Alexander Maconochie Medal was introduced in 2009 in order to recognise outstanding performance by an ACT Corrective Services staff member. It is part of a process to build a culture of performance and recognition within the agency. ACT Corrective Services Executive Director Mrs Bernadette Mitcherson assisted Dr Bourke in presenting Executive Director Commendations to a number of other staff who had also performed high quality work in the areas of Community Based Corrections and Business, Policy and Co-ordination. The Minister presented certificates to 22 Custodial Officer graduate recruits who had completed the 11 week recruit training course over the last 12 months.
